After the past few weekends of rain, this upcoming weekend is supposed to be filled with sun and warm weather. As the school year is coming to a close, there is no better time than now to start enjoying the summer. One of my family’s favorite places to go is Red Bank. Red Bank is in Monmouth County and is located on the Navesink River. It is a town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and things to do. It’s a short drive from Marlboro and has plenty of activities to make it an all day excursion.
If you’re a nature lover and enjoy walking through a scenic park, check out Thompson Park while you’re on your way to Red Bank. The park has a huge field that is perfect for an afternoon picnic or kite flying. There is a trail through the woods that leads to a breathtaking view of a lake. You can even go fishing, kayaking, and canoeing on the lake. There is also an arts center at the park that is perfect for kids.
Once you’re in Red Bank, you’ll find that it’s hard to have a bad time, whether you’re with family or friends. You can see a show at Count Basie Theatre, this weekend Jon Stewart will be there! They always have movie screenings, concerts, comedy performances, and more. Head over to Pinot’s Palette to channel your creative side while painting and sipping your favorite wine. This weekend, and every weekend for the rest of the summer, the streets will be filled with music on Saturday nights. Live local bands perform on the sidewalk from 6pm-9pm.
And as for restaurants, trust me, you will never leave this town with an empty stomach. With Father’s Day coming up, Red Bank is the perfect place to have a delicious meal to celebrate Dad or Grandpa. The Dublin House is known for its authentic Irish pub and menu and has both indoor and outdoor seating. Char is a fantastic steakhouse with a classy yet relaxed atmosphere, specializing in mouth-watering beef, fish, wine and more. Patrizia’s has a rustic Italian vibe with the perfect cuisine to match. Those are just some of my favorites, there’s many more.
If you’re still hungry, there are just as many dessert options as there are dinner options- and that’s a lot. There’s Antoinette Boulangerie that has French pastries and more. Several people go to Red Bank just to have the well-known crepes at Whipped Creperie. They have both sweet and savory crepes that are made right in front of you. Chocolate Works will satisfy any chocolate craving you have, you can even get a syringe full of melted chocolate!
So if you’re looking for something to do with your friends or family this weekend, take a trip to Red Bank. You’ll definitely have a great time, even if it’s just walking around and checking out the stores.
